USING VISCOSITY MODIFYING ADMIXTURES

Viscosity modifying admixtures contain water-thickening chemicals. When these chemicals mix with the concrete, they thicken the water by suspending the cement particles. The thickened water holds the aggregates in in place and reduces the slump of the concrete mix. When using Super Slump Buster alongside air entrainers, dose each admixture separately.

CHALLENGES OF VISCOSITY MODIFYING ADMIXTURES

Not all concrete mixes are compatible with viscosity modifying admixtures. Products such as Super Slump Buster becomes less efficient when the concrete mix includes a lower cement content, gap grades, or low aggregate-sand ratio. These types of mixes tend to slump differently than more traditional mixes so it can be difficult to know how to properly dose them with a viscosity modifying agent.
